Kindof making my life right now....

Aww.. Jenny from the block, why can't we just take it back to when you were this good. Way before Diddy and your career meltdown. My advice.. if you want it, Link up with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and grab Pharrell and all will be good. Trust me. The game really needs some feel good R&B again. This has been on my morning wake up mix for a while and this is how good R&B should sound.

Inspiration of the day..ps.. I took these pics

OH?? That's what a singer sounds like? ( Last 10 years/Part 1

Do you know what the chill is? It sometimes feels like ripples of water touching you arm, which sends the chill up and down your spine. Not that many people can say they feel the chill often with some examples being the first kiss, butterflies in you tummy, and the way someone can say something to you with a certain tone that moves you. In this ever declining music industry where bare talent is traded by a pretty face, authentic voices are very scarce, but when you hear one it will always stay with you.

Shingai Shoniwa

Lead singer of the band "The Noisettes" has a very gritty quality that amplifies when she reaches her high octaves. Not only does she banish stereotypes of people thinking that a black girl can't rock out ( Come on son? Bettie Davis). I could hear her range in any format and it will fit, a true testament of a real singer.

Kameelah Williams ( 702 )

Something very special happened to me today. I found my 702 cd named appropriately STAR. I have always been a big fan of theirs since before high school. Listening to their music has always brought me to this place of extreme happiness mostly because not only is the lead singers voice silky it's mostly the example of true R&B.( Side Note: R&;B means rhythm and blues not much of that is around now ). I really wish she would jump on a solo career because sometimes...well most of the time when I listen to her it reminds me why I always wanted to sing.

Round 2: Nina Persson... to be continued.

What would Monica Kaufman do?? (WWMKD)

I have such a love/ hate relationship with this woman. She is a legendary person in the state of Georgia, not only for being a great reporter, but also being able to match the most amazing patterns and colors an African American Woman should never wear for her skin tone. For example...Look above. Exactly. You really can't see it because I took this picture with my phone but, that jacket is tweed. This picture was taken in the month on May, hummmm. Anyway it's not only the suit and the hair...OK everything she has on really, but the fact I believe I have never seen her in any color other than a pastel pallet. So what would Monica Kaufman really do? Wear tweed in may and look like a jolly rancher. Thanks MK, It's one of the only reason I watch channel 2.

Tearin' the roof off this mother like Parliament: Present top 5 female rappers

At the age of 14, I fell in love with rap. I was raised in mostly white areas and wasn't exposed to it at a young age. When I moved to Georgia at the time So So Def was King, everyday outings and social activities where molded around this drum and base from Dj Kizzy Rock, Kilo, ABC, and 8ball and MJG and my fascination of getting into 559. When I had this discussion with Yaiesha and Carly about the best female MC's it came from the most insane topic, a Nikki Minaj video on BET. Not only did I almost spit up my strawberry lemonade by the ridiculous video, but more from the fact that this video is # 2 on the BET countdown. Next at number one was Drake with It's over, something I will address later on in a post. I believed when I saw this video that this must be a joke, I looked at Yai and said...is their a beat on this song? Yaiesha responded by telling me that her stylist had a field day like freaknik. Oh I see.. It just make no sense. Hummm. Getting back to my point or rather my question, What happened to awsome female rappers? Lets start with the top five, with five being Da Brat.
I can't speak on her present work or lack their of, I'm speaking about the impact of this album. Lets just call a spade a spade, Jermaine Dupree was on fire around this time and he could do no wrong production wise. What? You wanna do a rap album?? Oh, with a female MC? Oh and put Parliament Funkadelic on your album? It's a page right out of doggystyle but way more silky. Rap around this time was just fun and made you feel good and groundbreaking, not to mention Da Brat was the first female rapper to go platinum EVER!!! Lyrically Da Brat had a type of swagger these fake female MC's only wish they had. Let's just call it silky

Twice Removed: Krog street addition

This will be the second time I have been held hostage, and summoned to sit in traffic and stuck looking at my gate. You see, Krog street is my entrance and my exit into most of my travels and on Sunday it happened again. The first twice removed situation was when it rained for 7 days and 7 nights. Everything was flooded, including the Krog street bridge. As beautiful as the picture is in this post, it was hell for me and the whole community. The second twice removed was on Sunday, when they were filming a movie. My neighbor Chris said it was for Big Momma House # 17, or something. On this day everything shut down, with minimal APD assistance. It's not the fact the tunnel was closed, but how it is now a beacon of hipster culture. Not a day goes by that I don't see someone having a tacky photo shoot in the tunnel for bad clothing and weave shoots. AHHHHHH!!!! When will it stop, I really want my tunnel back.
